Ask a Plastic Surgeon / Abdominoplasty Question 16
Question: I am scheduled for a tummy tuck in two weeks. The doctor I have choosen works out of a hospital and seems to be a good doctor. However my surgery is at 7:00am and my doctor said that my husband and I could go out to lunch afterwards. I keep reading on line that people stay in the hospital for one to two days etc.. Is it common practice to go home right away?

Response: Unless the doctor is only removing skin, then someone is already out to lunch. I send most of my patients home the same day, but they are probably going to be just resting and not hitting the town. Staying in the hospital is rarely needed.
