Ask a Lawyer -- Immigration Question 5
Question: i have assylum in usa.
my green card application was denied.
can they refuse me a travel document?
From: gladiola, massachussets 05/27/2008
Response: Hello Gladiola-
I'm not sure I understand. If you qualified for asylum you should be given the green card. Do you know why your green card was denied? And if it was denied you likely will not be given a travel document.

Comment: I was denied my greencard on grounds: that I am a derivative of my father's assylum. My father passed away!
I need to re-apply for my own assylum. Can I apply for a tavel document before I decide to re-apply for assylum?

You should go speak with an immigration attorney to discuss what your options are. A Q&A section like this is not going to suffice to answer all of your questions on this issue.
