Question: can an illegal immigrant that entered the usa legally but did not re apply to stay here legaly can he become a permanet resident if he marries a us citizen
From: nallely, missouri 08/04/2009

Response: The answer is: possibly, but it may be difficult. There are various ways someone can become a permanent resident, including through 245(i), an I-601 waiver, a valid asylum claim, or even possibly an adjustment of status, all depending on the circumstances surrounding the case. It is also possible that person may be permanently barred from the United States. I would advise you seek out a competent immigration attorney to answer your questions as they apply to you specifically.
