Question: I have L1B visa stamped from Company A and valid till May 2010. Recently Company A merged with B. Now I have an amendment and new I797 L1 Approval Notice with I-94 attached valid till May 2010. My spouse (L2) has visa stamped same as mine and also company B amended approval with new I-94 attached till May 2010.

Now, my spouse has to go out of USA for urgent personal reason. Question: does she have to get L2 Visa stamped again with amended papers(Company B) OR she can enter with previous stamping? I have heard that amendment does not need stamping again.

Response: My understanding is that the issue is whether or not your wife's L2 visa is a special multi entry visa as opposed to single entry visa. See "L2 visa" entry at middle of this page. An inspection of the document is necessary. Your company should have an immigration attorney who assists with these matters. Perhaps he or she could answer this for you.
